AUBURN — John Mehrmann, an Auburn musician, has withdrawn his candidacy for the Ward 3 City Council seat.

After initially sending a campaign announcement to the Sun Journal, Mehrmann later said he was reconsidering whether it was the right time for a campaign. On Tuesday, he said he had decided to withdraw from the race.

Mehrmann’s name will still appear on the Nov. 7 ballot against incumbent Councilor Steve Milks.
