VASSALBORO — Golfers from St. Dominic Academy took the top three spots and a fourth placed in the top 10 as the Saints won the Western Maine Conference Class C qualifying tournament Wednesday at Natanis Golf Course.

Garrett Kendall earned medalist honors with a 5-over 77, while Mason Laflamme (8-over) and Ethan Pelletier (9-over) also finished second and third, respectively. Joe Adams placed ninth with a 91, rounding out St. Dom’s top-four scoring players for a combined team score of 41 over par. Peter Hayes (13th) and Riley Daigle (20th) also placed in the top 20 for the Saints.

North Yarmouth Academy placed second, with a team score of 69 over par, led by Zach Leinwand’s fourth-place finish with an 86.

Waynflete’s Sebby Ovigele placed fifth with an 88, leading the Flyers to a third-place showing.

Old Orchard Beach was fourth, paced by Aiden Hodgkins’ 15th-place finish.

In the Class B WMC qualifying tournament, Eli Spaulding’s even-par 72 led Freeport to the team championship.

The Falcons had two other players finish in the top 10 in the individual tournament. Carter Costello came in fourth with a 9-over 81 and Ryan Savona finished in a tie for sixth with a 13-over 85.

Coming in second was Yarmouth who had three players in the top 10 with Andrew Cheevers with an 8-over, 80 to come in third in the individual tournament while Sebastien Martinez posted an 85 and Ben Demasco with an 86.

Henry Stone’s 6-over, 78 to finish second in the individual tournament helped the Gray-New Gloucester Patriots to a third-place finish in the team event. Zach Stone finished in 12th with an 87. Marco Profenno finished for a tie for 22nd with a 91 and Jake Maschino had a 94 for a 28th-place finish to round out the scorers for the Patriots.

Poland finished eighth in the team championship. Alex Mains finished in a tie for 12th with a 87 and Aidan Webb came in one shot behind Mains. Cade Johnson had a 99 and Gavin Lenahan ended with a 103.

FIELD HOCKEY
LEAVITT 5, WINSLOW 0: Katie Sirois scored back-to-back goals in the third quarter to help the Hornets (8-0) pull away from the Black Raiders (1-7) in Turner.

Ainsley Berry’s first-quarter goal was the lone tally of the first half. Sirois then scored her two goals just over three minutes apart in the first half of the third quarter to triple Leavitt’s lead. Ava Twitchell also scored in the period, and Sage Dunn rounded out the scoring in the fourth quarter.

Berry added two assists, and Jada Beedy and Maddie Morin each contributed one.

Dominique Giroux-Pate made 13 saves for Winslow, including one on a penalty stroke.

BOOTHBAY 2, LISBON 1: Kari Blake and Ella Watts scored to lead the Seahawks (2-6) in Lisbon.

Riley Hoyle scored for Lisbon (1-5-1), assisted by Melanie Simmons. Sophia Cote made three saves in goal.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 3, HALL-DALE 1: Olivia Mastine scored twice off assists from Aubrey Kachnovich as the Phoenix (7-1) downed the Bulldogs (5-2) in a key Class C South matchup in Jay.

Brooklyn Fournier scored from Miley Fournier for the other Spruce Mountain goal. Torie Tibbetts scored for Hall-Dale.

Jade Graham stopped 23 shots in goal for the Bulldogs, while Mallory Clark made two saves to earn the win for the Phoenix.

GIRLS SOCCER
RICHMOND 5, OAK HILL 1: Ella Briand and Breonna Dufresne each scored two goals to lead the Bobcats (6-2) past the Raiders (1-6) in Wales.

Lila Viselli also found the back of the net for Richmond, which led 2-0 at halftime. Both of Dufresne’s goals were on penalty kicks.

Ava Rivet scored off an assist from Eliana Smith for Oak Hill’s goal.

MacKenzie Vattaso made eight saves for the Raiders, while Autumn Lane stopped six shots for the Bobcats.

ST. DOMINIC 3, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 1: Gabby Allen and Avery Gravel scored in the first half and Brooklyn Whited added a goal in the second half, powering the Saints (5-3-1) past the Seagulls (3-6) in Old Orchard Beach.

Anna Theriault made five saves for St. Dom’s.

Kailee Morin was assisted by Abby Roy for the lone Old Orchard Beach goal. Seagulls keeper Sarah Davis stopped nine shots.

MONMOUTH/WINTHROP 7, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 1: Sophomore Annabelle Carlton scored four goals for the Mustangs (7-2) in their win over the Phoenix (0-9) under the lights in Jay.

All of game’s goals were scored by underclassmen. Monmouth/Winthrop freshman Hayli Paradis opened the scoring in the first half. Spruce Mountain countered 10 minutes later when freshman Natasha Richardson set up freshman Ashley Nelson for a goal that evened the score at 1-1.

The Mustangs built a 3-1 lead before halftime on two goals by Carlton, one set up by fellow sophomore Abigail St. Clair.

Monmouth added four more goals in the second half: two more by Carlton, one by St. Clair and one by sophomore Riley Smith.

Spruce Mountain goalie Tyoaka Hodgkin made 12 saves.

BOYS SOCCER
MT. ABRAM 8, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 0: Three Roadrunners (9-0) scored two goals apiece in a home win over the Falcons (2-6) in Salem Township.

Bear Rollins, Morgan Thibodeau and Killian Pillsbury each netted two goals for Mt. Abram, while Sam Cockerham and Andrew Rother scored one apiece. Rother, Thibodeau, Payton Mitchell and Jamie Hering each recorded one assist.

Mountain Valley goalie Ben Desalle made 12 saves.
