FARMINGTON — Goals by Abby Dorr and Natalee Orr lifted Mt. Blue to a 2-0 girls soccer victory over Mountain Valley on Thursday.
Alaya Smith assisted on Dorr’s goal and Kari Savage set up Orr’s. The Cougars (3-5) outshot the Falcons 17-1.
Mountain Valley (3-6-1) goalkeeper Kloee Pelletier made 15 saves.
DIRIGO 2, LISBON 1: Sophia Nino’s second-half insurance goal was key as the Cougars (2-4) held off the Greyhounds (1-6) in Dixfield.
Teeghan Simonsen scored with 1:47 left in the first half to put Dirigo up 1-0. Nino doubled that lead with just under 26 minutes left in the second half.
Addy Burkhardt cut the deficit in half for Lisbon with eight minutes left, but Dirigo was able to hold on for the victory.
BUCKFIELD 2, TEMPLE 0: Brittany Carrier tallied a goal and an assist for the Bucks (7-1) as they traveled to Waterville and defeated the Bereans (5-5).
Carrier set up the goal scored by Cora Brewster.
Buckfield goalie Kianna Finnegan made six saves, while Karissa DeWitt stopped 10 shots for Temple.
EDWARD LITTLE 2, MESSALONSKEE 0: Layla Facchiano scored one goal and set up the other as the Red Eddies (3-3-1) shut out the Eagles (3-6) in Auburn.
Freshman Hope Fontaine scored Edward Little’s other goal.
LEAVITT 1, POLAND 0: Kylee Spugnardi score midway through the the first half, and that goal held up as the Hornets (2-7) earned their second victory of the season with a road win over the Knights (1-6-1) in Poland.
Leavitt goalie Kira Welch made five saves. Poland’s Jill Barnes stopped three shots.
FIELD HOCKEY
EDWARD LITTLE 2, BANGOR 0: The Red Eddies (6-3) earned their third straight win, defeating the Rams (0-8) in Auburn.
Leah Thibodeau scored both goals, in the second and fourth quarters and Micah Joler had an assist for Edward Little, which has won five of its past six games. Kasey Smith made eight saves.
Bangor goalie Isabella Gallant stopped 17 shots.
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER/NYA 6, TRAIP 0: Kenlie Nadeau and Amelia Bowie both scored two goals for the Patriots (3-4) in a win over the Rangers (1-5) in Gray.
Emma Bowden added a goal and assisted on both of Nadeau’s goals. Olivia Knudsen opened the scoring with a first-quarter tally. Nadeau and Izzy Humphrey had one assist each.
OXFORD HILLS 2, FRYEBURG 1: Brynn Bean scored on a breakaway with 3:52 remaining to give the Vikings (2-3-1) a win over the Raiders (1-6) in Fryeburg.
Bean also assisted on the game’s first goal, by Cassie Turgeon in the first quarter.
Fryeburg’s Grace Porcaro tied it late in the third quarter, assisted by Jocelyn Roy.
Oxford Hills goalie Gabby Wright and Fryeburg goalie Rayna Wales each made two saves.
MOUNTAIN VALLEY 5, LISBON 1: Senior Ella Young scored three times to lead the Falcons (3-4) past the Greyhounds (1-6-1) under the lights at Hosmer Field in Rumford.
Two of Young’s goals were scored on penalty corner, while the other was set up by Abby Jones. Kaylani Sinclair and Mallorie Bourret also had goals, and Melina Byam and Mariya Gammon each assisted on a goal.
Mountain Valley goalie Brooke Brown stopped six shots, and Sophia Cote stopped five for Lisbon.
DIRIGO 1, OAK HILL 0: The Cougars (5-1) finally broke through in the third quarter to edge the Raiders (2-5-1) in Dixfield.
Oak Hill goalie Sierra Lane made 23 saves and kept the game scoreless in the first half. Sylvia Hodson got a shot by her, with Lana Waite assisting for the Cougars.
Keira Kelley made four saves in net for Dirigo to secure the shutout.
BOYS SOCCER
DIRIGO 8, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 2: Dalton Hodgkins paced the Cougars (4-4) with four goals against the Phoenix (1-5-1) in Jay.
Alessandro Tammaro added two goals for Dirigo, including one on a header, and Darryl Curtis also scored. Goalie Travis Wright made two saves.
Jesse Lewis scored and had an assist for Spruce Mountain. Brody Veilleux also scored, and Jonathan Hines set up a goal. Trevor Hogan and Blake Gemelli each stopped three shots.
EDWARD LITTLE 3, MESSALONSKEE 1: Dayow Daud netted a hat trick as the Red Eddies (5-3) went on the road and topped the Eagles (2-5-2) in Oakland.
Daud scored two of his goals in the first half, when Edward Little took a 2-1 lead, and added an insurance goal in the second half. Ben Cole and Shukri Hassan each notched assists.
Luke Parks scored Messalonskee’s goal and Andrew Beckwith made eight saves for the Eagles.
LEWISTON 5, BANGOR 0: Jacinto Mavinga had a hand in all five Blue Devils (8-1) goals in a shutout win over the Rams (2-6-1) in Lewiston.
The Blue Devils have won seven straight games.
Mavinga scored two goals and assisted on three. Annimear Ibrahim and Abdirauf Hersi scored the other two Lewiston goals. Yahouba Katou assisted on one of Mavinga’s goals.
Lewiston goalie Payton Goyette stopped both shots he faced. Gavin Glanville-True and Graeme O’Neal combined to stop eight shots for Bangor.
VOLLEYBALL
DEERING 3, LEWISTON 0: Shea Fenton tallied 21 assists, seven aces and two blocks as the Rams (7-2) defeated the Blue Devils (3-5) in three sets in Portland, 25-3, 25-17, 25-16.
Lara Gin added 13 kills and two blocks.
Kaitlyn Shannon notched eight kills and six digs for Lewiston. Isabella Enos had five digs, an ace and a kill, and Mika Torres contributed five assists.
