DEAR SUN SPOTS: Apps this! Apps that! Why is it that older folks who don’t have apps on their phones cannot take advantage of the deals at restaurants that folks with apps can?

We’re regulars at the same places, but because we don’t have apps, we cannot get the same deals. I don’t think this is fair. Your take on this subject would be interesting. — No name, no town

ANSWER: I must agree with you — it doesn’t seem fair at all. Although I do use some apps, there are many I don’t bother with as it just feels like too much trouble to me. I’m sure many of my readers long for the days when they could just cut a coupon from the newspaper and keep it in your wallets!

Have you thought about contacting corporate offices of favorite places or speaking to a manager when you visit?

Are there other Sun Spotters who feel the same way and have advice to share?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: This is a follow-up to the Aug. 16 Sun Spots regarding the lost $500 cash. It was in a white, legal-size envelope and was last seen in Turner Center. It was for a fundraiser for a young cancer patient and her family.

I haven’t found it but haven’t given up hope. I placed “lost cash” signs up on Allen Pond Road with my phone number as I stopped there to make a phone call and stopped at the Farmers’ Market. The envelope could have fallen out of my vehicle at either place.

My signs were pulled up and if you call at me at 207-946-5579, I’ll come pick them up. — No name, Greene

ANSWER: Don’t lose hope — I don’t understand why someone would take your signs though!
