ANSWER: This sounds great! I hope you have a lot of participants.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: The time for opening Turner’s Century Box is approaching. The Century Box Jubilee committee is planning a weeklong celebration starting with opening ceremonies on Sunday. The event will be held at Leavitt Area High School from 4 to 6 p.m.
The century box from 1923 and another from 1973 will be opened. They are filled with messages, letters, prophecies, children’s essays, family stories, photographs and other memorabilia.
During the week of Nov. 12 through 19, the contents of both boxes will be displayed at the Turner History Museum on the fourth floor of the Leavitt Institute Building.
This showing is open to the public Tuesday, Nov. 14 from noon to 7 p.m.; Thursday, Nov. 16 from noon to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The closing ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 19, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the high school.
The Jubilee Committee is collecting memorabilia for a third century box to be opened in a hundred years. These items should pertain to life in Turner in 2023. Be a part of Turner’s future history by dropping off your ideas for the 2023 box at the Turner Town Office, Turner Public Library, or Turner History Museum, and pick up your free 100th decal. — No name, Turner
