With a base elevation of 2,460′, Saddleback has the highest base lodge elevation in New England, providing pristine snow conditions and stunning vistas of Rangeley Lake—and you can even catch a glimpse of Mount Washington from the mountain’s summit. Saddleback Mountain boasts over 600 skiable acres, including 88 acres of glades, offering endless possibilities for every level of skier. Due to the elevation and geography of Saddleback, it averages the most snowfall in the state (last 5-10 years had over 225” annually, 68’’ in March 2023 alone) and is the only mountain in the East that replicates the exhilarating feel of skiing out West, offering an extraordinary experience. The mountain was just named “Best Ski Mountain” in Maine by Down East Magazine for the second year in a row.
Saddleback’s vast terrain makes it known for its uncrowded slopes, which means more runs and less time waiting in lift lines. As a locally operated ski area, Saddleback Mountain prides itself on its welcoming culture, perfect for all ski levels, making it an ideal mountain to learn and grow your skills. Saddleback’s General Manager, Jim Quimby is a third-generation employee of the mountain and prides himself on preserving the history and its warm, welcoming culture.
Here’s what’s new at Saddleback Mountain for the 2023-2024 season…
Maine’s Hottest (and Highest) Restaurant: Saddleback Mountain is taking mountainside dining to new heights, both literally and metaphorically, with its mid-mountain restaurant “The Nest” opening in December 2023. Perched at an astonishing 3,620’, Saddleback‘s new restaurant takes the crown as the highest restaurant in Maine, offering breathtaking views of Rangeley Lake.
Ski-Up Kiosk and Bar: In addition to indoor/outdoor dining, a ski-up food kiosk and bar ensure that skiers and diners can refuel and relax without interrupting their adventure.
Eco-Conscious Design: The restaurant boasts a green roof, carefully designed to blend into the surrounding woods to not disrupt the natural habitat. It looks as though the mountain lifted up and tucked the restaurant right into its side.
Elevated Culinary Delights: For those dining inside, the menu is a fusion of French influence making the lodge a destination for food connoisseurs, adventurers, and nature lovers alike.
