The Winthrop Maine Historical Society plans to participate in the annual Winthrop Holiday Parade, sponsored by the Winthrop Area Chamber of Commerce, set for Saturday, Dec. 2.
The float will be constructed Thursday, Nov. 30, at the Winthrop History and Heritage Center, 107 Main St. The theme of the WMHS float will be Winthrop’s bicentennial. Squire Winthrop will lead the way to replicating some of the features seen in the parade in 1971 that celebrated Winthrop’s 100th birthday, 50 years ago.
All are welcome to join in the construction of the float and to walk or ride in the parade. Immediately after the parade, Santa will come into the History Center to greet children, friends and family for photos. People can use their own phones or cameras to take pictures.
Santa will stay until all the wishes are heard from those who stop in after the parade. Donations are appreciated.
