In response to a recent letter to the editor I submitted (“Pro-gun politicians should spend time with crisis dogs,” Nov. 12), someone reached out to inform me the problem is the shooter, not the “tool.”
I agree.
Whether you define the shooter as mentally ill, having no heart or evil, an assault weapon must have a depraved person pulling the trigger.
We all agree on stopping the next mass killing, so let’s work together on solutions. How, working together, do we keep military style rifles and anything else used as a weapon out of the hands of shooters with no regard for human life? We can’t afford to be polarized on every proposed remedy.
The time for this endless debate is over, action not excuses.
