ANSWER: Tracy, who passed away in 2022, worked as an account manager for Biomedical Services of the Red Cross (Northern New England). She was very passionate about her work, maintaining a safe and stable blood supply during the COVID-19 pandemic.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Pleasant St. Drop-in Center has immediate need for the following items: underwear for women in all sizes, bras in all sizes, rain ponchos, flashlights and large gloves.

We can also always use hand warmers, men’s and women’s underwear, any adult-size gloves or mittens, hand sanitizer, blankets, backpacks, luggage, hair brushes, portable snacks and drinks.

Donations can be made when we are open Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

We are local, all volunteer, and all donations, even the smallest contribution helps our unhoused neighbors.

ANSWER: Pleasant St. Drop-in Center is at 169 Pleasant St. in Auburn.  Operating hours are Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon. The number is 241-1849. Besides financial and material donations, they are always looking for volunteers. There is an orientation and brief training involved

We always receive generous support from the community and families to ensure that our residents have a wonderful holiday, so we trust in the kindness and generosity of our local businesses and residents’ families for donations of goods and services to support our holiday celebrations.

ANSWER: Bolster Heights Residential Care is at 26 Bolster St. in Auburn. Ever since I’ve been Ms. Sun Spots, a staff member has written to me with this request and I’m happy to be a part of their holiday celebration by getting the word out.
