JAY — The following events recently took place at Spruce Mountain adult education center.
Greg Bizier, coordinator of adult education, attended state-provided training for facilitating GED exams and training for new coordinators/directors.
Many people visited the display at the Apple Pumpkin Festival, asking questions about different programs. Levi Armandi, one of the visitors to the open house on Oct. 1 and a college student taking ITV classes at the center, drew the names of the winners of the raffle. Danielle Schmidt won first prize, a gift bag of educational supplies worth $50. Second and third prizes of pocket zip drives went to Ashley Towle and Lynn Beaudin.
There is still time to sign up for some of the enrichment classes being offered. Maine Driving Dynamics will begin on Nov. 12. This course will instruct participants on how to improve their defensive driving techniques. After completing the course, students will receive a three-point credit on their driving record. Register early for this class as it usually fills up quickly.
The center hopes to offer more enrichment classes in the spring. To recommend a particular class, call the Learning Center at 897-6384.
