NORWAY — The season finale timed 5K run/walk series on the grass trails at Roberts Farm Preserve will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, rain or shine.

Participants in the five-part series are competitive runners, race walkers and walkers of ages ranging from 15 to 75. Series timing is by Eric Cobb of Back40 Timing.

For the final event, canine athletes and their human partners will be included in the fun. Following the two-legged race at 10 a.m., there will be a timed 5K canine-cross, and following that, a more casual dog walk.

Mushers and fit dog/owner pairs are invited for the canine-cross. Aggressive dogs are not encouraged. Dogs should be on a leash, bungee line or in a harness. It is preferred that canines are attached to their owners via a hip or waist belt. There will be limited canine cool-down water at the site; dog owners should bring drinking water for their canines.

There will be a 5K walk in the woods for non-competitive dog/owner pairs following the canine-cross.

The entry fee is $15 for adult runners and timed canine-cross competitors; $5, students. Prizes will be awarded by gender and age group, and overall 5K series prizes. Canine-cross prizes will be awarded as well.

The preserve is located at 64 Roberts Road. Additional information about the race is available at 739-2124 or at www.back40timing.com. Proceeds benefit the trails at Roberts Farm.
