JAY — Otis Street officially returned to being a dead end Monday night by a vote of selectmen.

It is closed to through traffic with the exception of emergency vehicles, including municipal snow removal equipment, according to the motion approved. The change will go into the town’s road ordinance.

Residents of the road and nearby streets were split on a change to open Pine Street to two-way traffic coming from Otis Street and eliminating the latter as a dead end. After hearing from both sides in August, including concerns about safety, selectmen decided to keep Otis Street temporarily a through-road during Route 4 construction, and revert back to a dead end in mid-October.
