LEWISTON — A retired school superintendent will be a new member of the Lewiston School Committee.
Robert Connors, who retired from the Lewiston School Department in 1998, won the at-large seat as a write-in candidate, getting more votes than two other write-in candidates.
Connors got 552 votes in Tuesday’s election, according to City Clerk Kathy Montejo. Write-in candidate ZamZam Mohamud got 418 votes, and Abdullahi M. Abdulle received 38.
Former City Councilor Elizabeth Dube, a write-in candidate for the School Committee’s Ward 6 seat, was elected with 38 votes.
Connors, who was superintendent in Lewiston for 21 years, said he stepped forward to run when no one had become an at-large candidate, and that he thought he could contribute.
