Adams family
WILTON — The 14th reunion of the descendants of Alton and Ethel (York) Adams was held July 25 at Kineowatha Park with about 40 attending from Alaska, Maine, North Carolina, Texas and Vermont.
The day was spent in socializing, swimming, games and a potluck dinner. The business meeting was conducted by President Andy Goodwin. A moment of silence was held for deceased members, after which each one introduced themselves and told how they were related to Alton and Ethel.
Candy Goodwin reported on the family cookbook. She suggested next year each one bring a recipe with their potluck dish. A site committee was formed consisting of Butch Adams and Russell Black to decide, by July 1 where the reunion will be held and to report to the secretary so notices can be sent.
The time capsule was not dug up this year as it was too wet at Pease Pond. It will be done next year. Russell reported on work that has been done at the pond by himself and John Black.
The statistical report given by the secretary: two births, one marriage and one death. There are now 138 direct descendants, 183 including spouses, and 15 direct descendant deaths.
Next year’s reunion will be held on the fourth Saturday in July.
