A group of young men, who took a shovel off a porch at 176 Third St. to shovel out a car which was stuck on Mary Carroll Street near Third Street, and then instead of returning it, threw it up on the lawn, were picked up last night by Patrolman Chester Ridley and returned to the scene to put the shovel back on the porch and apologize to the owner. The incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. yesterday. Police had a description of the vehicle and Patrolman Ridley spotted it in New Auburn.

The former Day’s Jewelry Store, vacant for more than a year in downtown Lewiston, has been purchased by two attorneys who plan to lease the building for retail or office uses, The Sun learned Monday.

Laurier T. Raymond Jr., who purchased 100 Lisbon St. with his partner, John V. Bonneau, said the acquisition represents “a sound investment in downtown Lewiston.”

“We have great confidence that downtown Lewiston is going to explode. This was a great opportunity for us,” Raymond said.
