BELFAST, Maine — A Searsport man charged with sex crimes against children was arraigned Monday at Waldo County Superior Court.
Brian Doucette, 31, is accused of committing crimes against three children in the Waldo County towns of Searsport, Winterport and Stockton Springs.
The alleged abuse dates back at least a year, Waldo County Assistant District Attorney Eric Walker said Monday evening.
Officials from the Maine State Police Criminal Investigative Division have charged Doucette with four counts of visual sexual aggression against a child under 12 years of age, two counts of unlawful sexual contact and one count of sexual misconduct with a child. All those charges are Class C felonies, Walker said. Each Class C offense is punishable by up to 5 years in jail and up to a $5,000 fine.
He also is charged with one count of unlawful sexual touching, a class D misdemeanor crime.
According to Walker, visual sexual aggression against a child means “exposing yourself or having a child expose themselves to you.”
The charge of sexual misconduct stems from Doucette’s allegedly showing pornography to a child.
The victims are 11, 9 and 6 years old. One is a boy and two are girls, Walker said.
Doucette was arrested at 8 p.m. in a different county in Maine, but was taken to Waldo County Jail in Belfast to be booked.
His bail was set at $25,000 surety or $5,000 cash, and bail conditions include having no contact with the children. Doucette had been transferred Monday evening to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscassett, a jail official said.
