PARIS — A Mexico man pleaded guilty to trafficking hydrocodone, burglary and theft Friday in Oxford County Superior Court.

Gregg J. Gibbons, 25, of 56 Roxbury Road, was sentenced to four years in jail, with all but six months suspended and two years of probation. He was ordered to pay more than $2,000 in restitution and fines for the drug and theft charges.

Assistant Attorney General David Fisher told the court that in July 2011, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Rumford and Mexico police department officers learned a man was selling drugs. Using wiretaps, marked money and an undercover agent, they set up a fake drug purchase, but the alleged dealer wasn’t home.

Instead, Gibbons was at the home, and offered to sell hydrocodone. He was charged with unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs, a Class B offense.

In a separate incident last November, Fisher said, Gibbons broke into his next-door neighbor’s house and stole a Sony PSP hand-held video game system and 13 games. He said Gibbons eventually confessed to his neighbor that he stole the video games.

Gibbons’ sentence was stayed until Monday evening, so he can answer charges in Rumford District Court on Monday morning.
