FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners have received a safety grant for ergonomic furniture in the treasurer’s office at the county courthouse.

Maine Municipal Association awarded a $2,000 grant to new desks for Treasurer Mary Frank and Deputy Treasurer/Deputy Clerk Vickie Braley, and a new chair for Braley.

“It will make it more comfortable for us to work and will be better for us physically,” Frank said Tuesday.

The new furniture will allow everything to be placed at the right height for workers and cords to be out of the way, she said. Currently she is working with a cord across her desk.

The intent of MMA’s Risk Management Service safety enhancement grants are to purchase safety equipment or services that assist in reducing the frequency and severity of workplace injuries, according to a press release.
