BETHEL — The SAD 44 board Monday awarded contracts for resurfacing the track at the Telstar middle and high school complex and repairing the Woodstock Elementary School water filtration system.
Superintendent David Murphy said Maine Tennis and Track of Gray was awarded the contract at a cost of $37,195 for applying rubber to the track, patching and filling as needed, and relining it.
Ward Water and Plumbing of Steep Falls will conduct filtration work at Woodstock Elementary School at a cost of $13,600 and Goodwin Well & Water Inc. of North Turner will repair the pump at a cost of $4,950.
Some water damage to the school’s library occurred during the past year.
Both projects will be completed this year.
The board also said goodbye to Director Sidney Pew of Andover, who did not seek re-election this year. He has served the board 19 years and was the current chairman. Murphy said Pew has volunteered many hours to the district.
The board will choose its officers and committee members at its July 9 meeting.
In other matters, Andover Elementary School teaching Principal Beth Clarke resigned her position for a similar job in another district.
The board appointed Debra Borchardt, formerly an employee of neighboring RSU 10, to the position of speech therapist.
