Shame on Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Boston Mayor Tom Menino for slamming the door shut in the face of one of America’s chain restaurants.
The CEO of Chick-fil-A fast food recently expressed his opposition to same-sex marriage, stating the company was “guilty as charged for backing the biblical definition of a family.” Its restaurants have gay employees and serve gay customers “with honor, dignity and respect.” The chain operates on biblical principles and is not open Sundays.
Yet, despite it all, Chicago Mayor Emanuel pledged to keep Chick-fil-A from expanding in that city, saying “Chick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago’s values.”
And Boston Mayor Menino stated the chain isn’t welcome in that city.
Huh? Seems more like the perfect role model of a company I’d want in my city.
I would ask both mayors it they are actually naive enough to think their cities are better off without a straightforward company that is bold enough to stand up for what is right, and even unpopular, in today’s society? If so, what kind of company fits their values?
I am not a fan of fast-food eateries. However, if Chick-fil-A were local, my beagle would be eating lots of chicken from now on, merely to appreciate and promote a company that deserves it.
Cheers to Chick-fil-A management and all its employees. They represent what is right in America today. The company deserves a gold key to every city.
