HARRISON — Harrison Recreation participants joined in the annual Swim Across Crystal Lake on Aug. 8. Swimmers left the shores of Vacationland Campground at 9 a.m. for the 1.25-mile swim. The Osgood Family gave the group permission to gather at their beach.
Fourteen swimmers consisted of adults along with kids who passed their swim lesson level and were tested.
Completing the swim were Jamie Mazer, 53 minutes; Mae Mile, 54 minutes; Dimitri DiBiase, 55 minutes; Amy Milo, one hour; Brayden Bartlett, 1:05; Jordan Edwards, 1:10; Joy Norkin, 1:12; Lynda Herskovitz, 1:14; Carson Brynie, 1:14; Theresa Wilson, 1:17; Katie Ebinger, 1:17; Emma DiVito, 1:24; Sarah Pierini, 1:24; and John Ebinger, 1:29.
A pontoon boat owned by Peter Brown and operated by George and Carol Ann Hocheruechner and family supported the swim in case immediate assistance was needed. Their daughter Kate who was also aboard the boat is a certified lifeguard.
Harrison Rec. staff and family members of the swimmers who paddled nearby in kayaks and canoes included Jess DiBiase, Krista Hakala, Joe Gallant, Angel Pagleriani, Courtney Tift, Bobbi Scriber, Garrett Hudanish, Ethan Kidd, Melissa Strauss, Deb Pierini and Jen Bartlett.
