During his first campaign for governor, Angus King heard from seniors that they didn’t want a nursing home to be the only choice when they needed care. He listened.
In 1996, Gov. King proposed and signed into law a significant expansion of home and community-based programs. This initiative was not without its powerful opponents, but he never wavered in his commitment to a policy that saved millions of dollars and did the right thing for Maine people.
During his administration, Maine was recognized nationally as a leader in reforming services for seniors.
I am supporting Angus King as Maine’s next U.S. senator because I believe he will bring that same courage and common sense to his work in the Senate.
He is a fair-minded and experienced leader who will make decisions based on what is best for Maine and the nation.
