FARMINGTON — Azel Irving Campbell, 86, died on Sept. 6, at the Sandy River Center for Health Care.
He was born Jan. 3, 1926, in Phillips, the son of Clarence and Ezma (Springer) Campbell. He was educated in the schools of Phillips. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps, being stationed in the South Pacific.
He married Gladys Brown on March 8, 1947, in Farmington, and she died on Dec. 24, 1992. He was employed at the Forster Manufacturing Co. in Strong for 21 years, retiring as a foreman. He was a member of the Prescott Fairbanks American Legion Post 64 in Phillips. He enjoyed carpentry and working on his house.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Lorraine Berry of Avon; his stepson, Roland Coolong of Farmington; his special granddaughter, Dawn Coolong of Strong; his brother, Elwood Campbell of Kingfield; and many grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his stepson, Eugene and wife, Geraldine Coolong.
