AUBURN — Maslah Hassan shook off two Brunswick defenders and fired a shot into the net with just over four minutes to play as Edward Little pulled off a 1-0 upset victory over longtime rival Brunswick in KVAC boys’ soccer action.

The Red Eddies (2-1) came close to scoring in the first half when Zach Tannenbaum hit the post. The closest opportunity for the Dragons (2-1-1) came when Konnor Scarponi hit one over the goal from a tight angle on a breakaway midway through the second half.

Llewellyn Jensen made five saves to notch the shutout, while Greg Walton turned aside three shots between the posts for Brunswick

Buckfield 4, Valley 3

BUCKFIELD — Garrett Hamann found the net with 12 minutes left to play as Buckfield edged Valley 4-3 in EWC boys’ soccer action Tuesday.

Hamann led the revved-up Bucks (2-2) with a hat trick, while Jared Eastman also tallied. Stone Ellis, Carrington Miller and Jordan Gillespie all scored a goal for the Cavaliers (1-2).

Kelvin Downey made seven saves for Buckfield, while Andrew Tremblay deflected five shots in the cage for Valley.

Mt. Blue 5, Skowhegan 0

SKOWHEGAN — Drew Parsons registered a hat trick Tuesday to propel Mt. Blue to a convincing 5-0 victory over Skowhegan in KVAC boys’ soccer action.

Gage Kennedy and Jamie Schanck also tallied for the Cougars (1-2) to complete the scoring. Zack Veayo also contributed with an assist.

Zach Jackson needed only two saves to notch the shutout, while Sam Wheeler deflected five shots for the Indians (0-3).

Dirigo 6, Mountain Valley 1

DIXFIELD — Chad Snowman netted four goals Tuesday afternoon to propel Dirigo to a 6-1 victory over Mountain Valley in boys’ soccer action.

T.J. Frost and Hunter Ross also tallied for the powerhouse Cougars (4-1) to complete the scoring. Andrew Phelps tallied the Falcons’ (0-4-1) lone goal with an assist from Nicholas Dupont.

Veteran keeper Mike Chow made eight saves to notch the win, while Dakota Jacques deflected 15 shots for Mountain Valley.

Poland 1, Gray-New Gloucester 1

GRAY — Longtime local rivals Poland and Gray-New Gloucester squared off in a boys’ soccer matchup Tuesday, and despite valiant efforts on both teams part, they came away with a 1-1 deadlock.

Nick Allen scored an unassisted goal for the Knights (0-2-1), while Will Bartlett converted a pass from Jack Martell for the Patriots (2-1-1).

Adam Verrault and Cody Kastro combined to record four saves for Poland, while Nick Rogers turned aside four shots for Gray-New Gloucester.

Mt. Abram 4, Carrabec 1

NORTH ANSON — Calum Dixon engineered two goals and scored one himself as Mt. Abram dismissed Carrabec with a 4-1 victory in a boys’ soccer game Tuesday.

The Roadrunners (2-3) took a 2-1 lead in the first half and tacked on two more goals in the second.

Trevor Brackley scored a pair of goals and Jay Chenard had one for Mt. Abram.

Carrabec’s lone goal was scored by Nicholas Sansone.

Winthrop 3, Monmouth 2 (OT)

MONMOUTH — Winthrop (2-2-1) rebounded from a two-goal deficit and Ben Hall slipped in the game-winning goal with three seconds left in overtime, handing Winthrop a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Monmouth Academy in a boys’ soccer game Tuesday.

Hall scored off Jake Vally’s corner kick to give Winthrop the victory.

In the first half, the Mustangs (1-2-2) built a 2-0 lead on Kyle Fletcher’s two unassisted goals.

The Ramblers hustled in the second half and tied the game when Justin Lapointe and Dalton Cummins each punched in a goal.

Monmouth dominated the game, outshooting Winthrop, 21-11.

Spruce Mountain 5, Telstar 0

BETHEL — Greg Whitney punched in back-to-back goals as Spruce Mountain ditched Telstar with a 5-0 victory in a boys’ soccer game Tuesday.

The Phoenix built a 3-0 lead in the first half thanks to goals by Whitney and Max Moreau.

In the second half, it was the same old story, with Spruce Mountain topping off its three-goal lead with goals from Adam Gettle and Devon Autry.

The Phoenix outshot Telstar, 40-12, and their goalie Dustin Jones made 10 saves.

Belfast 4, Leavitt 2

TURNER — Yanni Rakis scored a pair of goals and earned an assist as Belfast (3-0-1) gave Leavitt (1-3) the boot with a 4-2 victory in a boys’ soccer game Tuesday.

Belfast built a 3-1 lead on goals by Andrew Violette, Tyler Baker and Rakis.

The Hornets tried to keep up. Tyler Roux scored both goals for Leavitt, with Brandon Morissette earning an assist on Roux’s second point.
