Lithuanian Picnic on Sept. 15

RUMFORD —  The Lithuanian Heritage Club will hold its annual Lithuanian Picnic from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Black Mountain of Maine.

The day will include Lithuanian food made by club members, raffle baskets, music, a raffle for Red Sox tickets and the awarding-winning Christmas tree will be on display. Tickets can be purchased at Community Energy, Davis Florist, Blaisdell’s Variety or by calling 364-3966.

Heart Walk is Sunday

RUMFORD — The Central Maine/Rumford Heart Walk will take place at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at Hosmer Field. The  nurses and staff of the cardiac rehab unit at Rumford Community Hospital will be on hand. The event raises money for the American Heart Association for future research.

Historical Society to meet

MEXICO — The Mexico Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept 17. The meeting will feature Bob Daigle and his descendants, the Daigles, McKennas and LeBlancs from Nova Scotia, on DVD. He will also have his genealogy present.

A potluck supper will be served following a short meeting at 5 p.m. The public is invited.

Bowlers sought for leagues

RUMFORD — Pine Tree bowling league at Oxford Lanes is entering its 49th year, under new ownership by Jamie Volkernick.

Team meetings were held on Sept. 10. The league starts at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17. New teams and bowlers are welcome to join. Last year’s teams have preference in the league.
