The votes of Rep. Mike McClellan astonish me. He voted against increasing minimum wage, (LD 447); against allowing farm workers union representation, (LD 1207); to cap benefits for workers severely injured at work, (LD 1913); to decrease child labor laws, (LD 51); and to increase influence of big money on the political system, (LD 659).
McClellan is a tea party Republican.
Maine needs reasonable people to deliberate important issues.
Growing up, my family of six was provided a comfortable life with one working parent. With health care, dentistry, pension, overtime, paid vacations — employees were highly regarded for knowledge and skills.
With every vote McClellan makes, people lose a little more, until here we are today — parents both working multiple jobs to get 40 hours, no benefits. People have lost their bargaining power.
People need someone with their interests at heart.
Jim Stephenson will weigh decisions carefully, voting not with party affiliation, but for Maine people.
