RUMFORD — Jeannette T. Knox, 83, of Third Street, Dixfield, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Rumford Community Home.
She was born in Rumford, Oct. 8, 1929, the daughter of Joseph and Blanche (Boivin) Martineau and had attended Rumford schools.
Jeannette worked at Diamond Match in Dixfield, Linnell Motel in Rumford and did private housekeeping. She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church. She was a lifelong member of the Swasey-Torrey Post 100, American Legion in Dixfield and had served as a past president of the auxiliary.
She was married in Rumford on May 19, 1972, to Durwood E. Knox, who died in Portland on March 30, 2002.
Survivors include a daughter, Marie Estelle Gill and husband, Peter, of Sabattus; sons, Rudolph Houde and wife, Kris and Gary Houde and wife, Susan, of Colorado; a stepdaughter, Kathy Touchette of Rumford; sisters, Irene Sinclair of Rumford, Rita Girardin of Dixfield, Yvette LeBlanc and husband, Lee Roy, of Dixfield and Joanne Morin and husband, Richard, of Standish; brothers, Raymond of Scarborough, Donald and wife, Janice, of Virginia, Marcel and wife, Doris “Nila,” of Rumford and Eugene Martineau and wife, Rosemary, of Florida; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by sons, Robert and Wayne; a stepdaughter, Andrea Hite; brother, Joseph; and a sister, Pauline Blanchard.
