WEST PARIS – The First Universalist Church of West Paris invites all to join in Sunday services, which are presented with a combination of guest speakers and Worship Service Committee members. Services are at 9 a.m.; refreshments follow the service.
Nov. 4, “Comfortable with Uncertainty,” led by The Rev. Sarah Shepley, who has given several sermons at the West Paris church. She is an ordained interfaith minister in Maine’s western hills. She is also a graduate of the Portland School of Art and has been a professional artist in mixed media for more than 20 years.
Nov. 11, “Lessons Learned,” led by Cindy Reedy, who has led many services at the West Paris church. She is a teacher and third generation Unitarian Universalist. The sermon is about the big lessons we learn in life; those attending the service are encouraged to share their lessons learned.
Nov. 18, “Thanksgiving Lessons from the Native Americans,” taking a look at the wisdom of the Native Americans, led by Marilyn Hammond, a long time leader at the South Paris Universalist Church and graduate of The Renaissance Program, a UUA program that offers training for professional religious educators, seminarians and lay leaders in topics such as UU history and identity, administration, philosophy and worship. She is a retired teacher and is an active participant in community activities.
Nov. 25, “Welcoming Winter,” led by Robert Clifford, church member, and retired guidance counselor from Oxford Hills High School where he worked for 28 years.
