This is in response to Mary Jane Newell’s letter (Nov. 25). Why do some people spread such negativity and erroneous statements? She, Thomas Shields and a host of others of their like are classic examples of what is wrong with this proud nation today.
Letters of that sort do nothing to encourage or otherwise produce a sense of unity among citizens. The public should all get together and support the government by communicating to elected officials in Congress and, yes, to the president. We should tell them we want them to quit the bickering and mean-spiritedness and work together for the good of this nation and its people.
Only in such a fashion will people be able to rise above the negativity and realize positive actions that will help to cure the problems faced by this country today.
