PORTLAND (AP) — A winter storm-imposed parking ban in Maine’s largest city has led to 72 vehicles being towed.
Motorists who went to retrieve their vehicles from an impound lot Friday in Portland had to pay $135. That’s a $70 tow fee, a $35 impound fee and a $30 parking ticket.
The first winter storm always serves as a harsh reminder for motorists who forget about parking bans, which are imposed to allow snow removal.
City spokeswoman Nicole Clegg told the Portland Press Herald that the number of towed vehicles previously topped 100.
