When Greene voters go to the polls on March 1, they will be asked to vote on Article 3 which reads “Shall the town vote to annul, revoke, rescind Tag Sales, Flea Market ordinance.”
The wording is exactly as the petitioner wrote it as Maine Municipal requires.
There were 77 voters signed in when the ordinance was enacted at the March 2011 town meeting.
When people vote on the article they need to think carefully before they cast their ballot. There are safety concerns and other issues that need to be considered that were raised at the Feb. 11 public hearing on that issue, which the petitioner chose not to attend.
Any full-time yard sale or flea market is a business and is subject to all the rules that other businesses in the community must abide by, whether it is parking, signs, public safety or other issues.
I will be voting “no” on Article 3 on March 1.
