EDINBURG — A Chester man was taken Saturday afternoon by a LifeFlight of Maine helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center with broken bones and lacerations after he was ejected from the pickup truck he was driving north on Interstate 95.
Stephen Voisine, 31, of Chester was injured about 3:15 p.m after he pulled his 1997 Ford Ranger pickup truck from the breakdown lane into northbound traffic at mile marker 212, just south of the Howland exit, Maine State Trooper Larry Anderson said about three hours after the accident.
Voisine’s truck was struck from behind by a 2012 Chevy sport utility vehicle driven by Chelsea Davis, 21, hometown unknown. The truck rolled over several times, the trooper said.
Adrian McComb, 35, of Lincoln, a passenger in Voisine’s truck, also was ejected, but suffered minor injuries, Anderson said. He was treated at the scene.
Davis and her three-year-old son were treated at the scene for cuts to the face and seat-belt bruising, respectively, according to the trooper.
Voisine’s truck was demolished, Anderson said.
The trooper said that he did not know why Voisine had pulled into the breakdown lane. The investigation into the accident is continuing because drug paraphernalia was found in the truck but now charges have been filed, Anderson said.
The Interstate was closed for about an hour following the accident, according to a previously published report. It reopened about 4:30 p.m. after the scene had been cleared.
