PERU — The Board of Selectmen tabled a discussion Monday night on whether to advertise for a full-time or part-time road worker because only three of five members were present.
Chairman Jim Pulsifer said he thought the full board should be present for the discussion and members Danny Wing and Lee Merill agreed.
Laurieann Milligan and Larry Snowman were absent.
Road Commissioner Joe Roach said he would do what the board wanted, but he wants to have a dependable person on call if the weather became suddenly icy or snowy.
“I need to have someone on call that will be home when I call and a full-time person would already be at work,” he said.
The board postponed finalizing the job description until next week and scheduled a workshop with Roach for 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Selectmen will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
In other business, the board:
* Approved a wheelchair ramp for Archie Wing on Main Street
* Reviewed an intent to harvest 10 acres on Green Woods Road by Jim Henderson
* Approved Health Affiliates of Maine having meetings of caseworkers in the voting room of the town hall twice a month in June and July. There will be no clients there.
During the public comment time, Warren Oldham asked Pulsifer when the town was going to get an official record of meetings. He indicated he wanted a video or audio recording of all meetings to be kept in the office.
Pulsifer said to keep such a document was problematic because it would be an official document that could be asked for in court.
Martha Witherell spoke about minutes that were not amended as requested last year and they changed the meaning of what was said in the meeting.
Pulsifer told Witherell and Dawna Kazregis to write down what they wanted so the board would have a written document to address their concerns at its next meeting.
