I have been a resident of Buckfield for 30 years. I have had children and grandchildren graduate from the Buckfield school system.
I have seen my taxes go up every year. I now live on Social Security benefits. When taxes on my acre of land with a double-wide home surpass my Social Security check, something isn’t right.
This town has just as many seniors as households with children. The school consolidation was supposed to save money.
Ha. Someone pulled the wool over the public’s eyes with that one.
Now, it is about time the citizens of this town stand up and vote the proposed budget down until folks can all afford to live in this town. Otherwise, more people will leave and residents will see even more “For Sale” signs on people’s lawns.
A budget validation meeting on the RSU 10 budget will be held Thursday at Mountain Valley High School to set the budget, then the budget validation referendum vote will be held July 30 at the town offices in RSU 10.
People need to get out and vote.
