FARMINGTON – Funeral services for Allan LeForest Smith of Farmington were held Friday from Old South Congregational Church, Main Street, with the Rev. Alexis Fuller-Wright and the Rev. Dr. Richard Waddell, co-officiating. Patricia Hayden was the organist. Words of welcome and prayer of invocation were given by the Rev. Fuller-Wright, followed by the congregation singing a favorite hymn, “Just a Closer Walk With Thee.” Scripture reading was Psalm 23 followed by personal remembrances by longtime friends, Bob Flick and John Hodgkins. His grandson, Matthew West sang “I’ll Be Seeing You” accompanied by pianist Sam Sytsma. His son, David Smith, read “L’Envoi” followed by Dick Waddell offering a personal eulogy and message. The congregation sang “Amazing Grace” followed by his daughter, Karen West, offering a personal eulogy. The congregation then sang “Let There Be Peace on Earth” followed by David Smith reading Tennyson’s “Crossing the Bar.” The Rev. Fuller-Wright offered a time for prayer , The Lord’s Prayer and the Benediction. Following services a reception hosted by the Old South Hospitality Committee was held in the church vestry. Committal services were held on Saturday with the Rev. Fuller-Wright offering words of comfort and committal. Full military honors were provided by Camp Keyes, Augusta. Pallbearers were David Gibson, Darby Warburton, Aaron Hefler, Bob Flick, Edward Flick, Timothy Flick, Douglas Pope, Stewart Goodwin and Patric Brophy. Arrangements were in the care of the Wiles Remembrance Center.
