New England Celtic Arts in collaboration with the Patriot Renewables Emerging Artists Series will present Rachel Davis and Chrissy Crowley with Owen Marshall at the Maine Highland Games on Saturday, Aug. 17, and at North New Portland Community Church on Sunday, Aug. 18, with curtain at 7 p.m. A jam session is planned for 6’oclock  where audience members are encouraged to join in a few tunes with the artists before the show. Rachel Davis from Baddeck, Cape Breton, spends her time switching from international festival stages to small local dances at home. In a genre that sees many performers pushing the envelope and testing new waters, her style of playing trad tunes in a trad way is a refreshing reminder of why the Cape Breton fiddle style drives so hard, and is so sought after. She has toured for several years in Maine with master Cape Breton song-writer and entertainer Buddy MacDonald. Rachel has recently released her second CD “Turns”

, from Margaree, Cape Breton, has an impressive list of awards, nominations and international appearances. Crowley embraces her Celtic roots and makes them her own, through original compositions coupled with contemporary arrangements of traditional tunes. Her latest album “Last Night’s Fun” has received much acclaim on the Celtic music scene.

Multi-instrumentalist Owen Marshall is a highly sought-after accompanist in many genres. With his unique sense of harmony and rhythm, he has traveled and performed all over the world with many of traditional music’s top acts. He plays regularly throughout New England with the popular Portland-based ensemble The Press Gang.
