LIVERMORE FALLS — Summer Reading Camp at Treat Memorial Library celebrated its completion on Aug. 16 with the Chewonki Foundation’s presentation of “Scales & Tales.” Certificates and rewards were presented to all the campers who reached or exceeded their reading goals.

Top readers for total number of hours read were Natasha McDonald, age 1-4 group; Tyler Morrison, age 5-6 group; Casey Gould, age 7-8 group; Hanni Johnson, age 9-11 group; and Kaili Grant, age 12 and up group.

Top readers for total number of books read were Serenity Ortiz, age 1-4; Rachel Wyman, age 5-6; Kassidy Wyman, age 7-8; Molly Grant, age 9-11; and Josh Gran, age 12 and up.

The overall winner for number of hours read was Hanni Johnson for going over her goal by 58 hours. The overall winner for number of books was Kassidy Wyman for going over her goal by 105 books.

Director Elaine Smith had challenged the campers by promising to color her hair pink if they exceeded last year’s totals for number of books and hours read. The total was a little short, but Mrs. Smith was so proud of the campers’ efforts that she colored it pink anyway.

The library thanks everyone who helped make this year’s Summer Reading Camp a great success: Kylee, Ronni-Jo and Bobbi-Jo Morrison; Kaitlin and Jodi Ladd; Abby Ortiz; Beth Johnson; Leigh Stevens; Mr. and Mrs. McHugh; Brittany Castonguay; Kristie Wyman; and the indispensable staff: Terry Singer, Elizabeth and Myra Rosenbaum and Cindy Ortiz.

Now is the time to start thinking about knitting/crochet projects for the fall or perhaps even Christmas gifts. The Knit/Crochet Group meets on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. No experience is needed. Volunteer instructors are available on the fourth Tuesdays of each month. Yarn, hooks and needles are also available. Learn to make a neck warmer, instead of a scarf. Make mittens for the kids or grandkids. Already have a project in progress, bring it along.

Story Time will begin again on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Join Miss Cindy on Wednesdays for Preschool Story Time and Saturdays for Family Story Time, both at 10:30 a.m. Follow Treat Memorial Library on Facebook for special events.

The library’s bookstore, Elsie’s Re-Read Used Book Emporium, is available during library hours, best days Tuesday and Friday. Paperbacks are 25 cents, DVDs or VHS are 50 cents and the rest is whatever the buyer wishes to donate. There are books for all ages and interests. New used items are added often.
