WILTON — A police officer used his cruiser’s fire extinguisher to put out flames on the kitchen wall of a house on Main Street early Wednesday evening.
Wilton firefighters and police responded to the report of a structure fire at 5:51 p.m., police Chief Heidi Wilcox said Thursday.
Police Sgt. Chad Abbott and officer Derek Daley reached the residence first. Abbot grabbed a fire extinguisher and put the fire out. A container of plastic utensils had caught on fire near the stove, she said. Officers shut the stove off.
Fire Chief Sonny Dunham was not immediately available for comment Thursday.
