Sara Pettengill and her 6-year-old daughter, Mya, sit on a 1937 monster ladder truck at the Kora Kare for Kids Ride-In at Twitchell’s Airport in Turner on Saturday. “We wanted to give back, so that is why we are here,” said Sara Pettengill of Gardiner. Pettengill’s 3-year-old daughter, Isabel, hidden in the driver’s seat, has cerebral palsy and needs braces on her legs. When Pettengill looked for help, the Shriners stepped up to the plate, Pettengill said. “Her needs are so great and our insurance only covers so much. For us, that has been a life saver,” she said. The firetruck, owned by Shaw Brothers Construction, was brought to the event to help raise money for the Shriners Hospital for Children, driver Glenn Meehan said.
