BRUNSWICK — Some of New England’s most talented musicians will team up with restaurants in Brunswick to raise money in the fight against hunger.

The second annual “Singing for Their Supper” benefit is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 27, and Saturday, Sept. 28. Through ticket sales, food sales and donations, the event benefits Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program, a nonprofit organization that feeds thousands of hungry people in the Midcoast region. MCHPP recently launched a BackPack Program to provide food over the weekend for schoolchildren.

“Singing for Their Supper” kicks off with live music Friday night at the Frontier Café featuring The Alternate Routes and Pete Kilpatrick. Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door, and can be purchased at www.brownpapertickets.com.

Then on Saturday, the event continues at the Taste of Brunswick on the town mall, starting at 11 a.m. Maine favorites Amy Allen, the Maine Marimba Ensemble, and Spencer Albee will take the stage, followed by The Alternate Routes at 2:45 p.m.

Local restaurants will serve up their specialties under the food tent, including Bombay Mahal, The Great Impasta, Sea Dog Brewing and more. Adult tickets are $22 in advance, $25 at the door; $10 for children 10 and under. Buy tickets at www.brunswickdowntown.com/TOB.
