PORTLAND (AP) — Cianbro construction company and the Putney Inc. animal drug firm have been rated the best places to work in Maine.

Sixty companies made the final cut for the Best Places to Work program that recognizes businesses with outstanding work environments.

At the Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management’s awards banquet in Portland on Thursday night, Pittsfield-based Cianbro was rated No. 1 in the large company category. It was followed by Edward Jones in Eliot and Athenahealth Inc. in Belfast.

In the small/medium company category, Portland-based Putney Inc. took the top spot, followed by Maine Community Health Options in Lewiston and Portland Webworks in Portland.
