PORTLAND (AP) — A dispute between two inns in Brunswick with similar names is headed to court.
The Brunswick Inn has operated under its current name since 2007. The Inn at Brunswick Station opened in 2011.
The owner of the older establishment has sued to force the newer establishment to change its name. The case goes to trial next month in U.S. District Court in Portland.
The Brunswick Inn’s lawyers said visitors sometimes make reservations at one place and arrive at the other. Vendors have made deliveries to the wrong inn. Once, the Brunswick Fire Department responded to an alarm at the wrong hotel.
The Brunswick Inn claims trademark infringement. An attorney for The Inn at Brunswick Station tells the Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/1fzkAke ) his client has the right to use the name.
