NORRIDGEWOCK — Three men were arrested and 20 pounds of marijuana along with cocaine, hashish and several prescription pills were confiscated as the result of a search at a local house Thursday night.
The Somerset County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at 611 Skowhegan Road about 11 p.m. Thursday, Deputy Chief Dale Lancaster said in a statement released on Friday.
Police confiscated several drug related items including 20 pounds of processed marijuana, 41 marijuana plants, 6 grams of cocaine, 75 OxyContin 80 milligram pills, 18 hydrocodone pills, 2 Vicodin pills, plus hashish, scales, cultivation equipment, drug related documentation and paraphernalia and $2,555 in cash.
Deputies arrested George P. Chesley, 44, of Norridgewock, who was charged with four felonies and two misdemeanors. He was charged with Class A aggravated trafficking in a Schedule Z drug, Class B aggravated trafficking in a Schedule Z drug, Class C aggravated cultivation of marijuana, Class D possession of a Schedule W drug, Class D possession of a Schedule X drug and Class C violation of conditions of release. Bail was set at $10,000.
Kyle I. Finley, 27, of Litchfield was charged with Class B trafficking in a Schedule W drug, Class B trafficking in a Schedule Z drug and Class C possession of a Schedule W drug. Bail was set at $5,000.
Gary Newell, 34, of Canaan was charged with possession of a Schedule W drug and his bail was set at $1,000.
A 17-year-old female was at the residence, said Lancaster. She was removed and placed with a parent.
“This is a substantial one,” Lancaster said in a telephone interview. “We have been successful in arresting a drug dealer in the community and removing an excessive amount of marijuana and other drugs from hitting the streets.”
Approximately 10 officers from the sheriff’s department assisted in the warrant search.
Chesley was out on bail for an aggravated drug trafficking conviction out of Kennebec County. He had received a stay of execution until November. His charges were elevated to aggravated because of previous felony-level drug convictions over the past several years, said Lancaster.
All three were taken to Somerset County Jail in Madison, where they remained on Friday.
