GRAY — A Thursday afternoon collision in Gray sent one person to the hospital and backed up traffic, police said.

Doja Kew, 71, of Gray attempted to turn onto a driveway on Shaker Road — also known as Route 26 — when a Ford SUV operated by Danielle Prevost, 26, of Gray broadsided Kew’s Chrysler, according to Capt. Don Goulet of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and Prevost was treated at the scene and released, according to Goulet.

Kew suffered injuries not considered life-threatening and was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment, the captain said.

The crash, which occurred around 5 p.m., snarled the evening commute traffic on Routes 202 and 26, Goulet said.
