This in response to the letter printed Nov. 4 from Wayne Werts, “Health care for the veterans,” and also a question.
He wrote of homeless veterans without health care and how, because the state did not accept health care expansion, they are being left out.
From his letter: “He is one of the veterans losing MaineCare because Maine has not accepted federal dollars to expand health care. If Maine accepts the federal offer, approximately 3,000 Maine veterans will get the health care they need.”
Why does a homeless veteran have to even think about MaineCare? Shouldn’t the Veterans Administration be providing him/them health care?
What am I missing here?
