- Pat Callahan of Horton Street in Lewiston unties his sneaker after using it to put out a fire in his boat that was parked across the street from his house. “I just came home from work and my tenant says to me, ‘Pat, your boat is on fire!’ So I ran out, with my shoes in my hand and jumped up in the boat and started putting out the flames with my shoes.” Callahan thought it might have been caused by a discarded cigarette. Lewiston fire investigators were sent to the scene.
