RUMFORD — Mountain Valley High School Principal Matt Gilbert issued a news release Monday about a threat of violence against a student last week.

According to the release, the school’s administration and the Rumford Police Department investigated a threat against one student by another student through the Internet. He said interviews were conducted and direct interventions were made. All students involved are receiving appropriate services so such threats will not be made again.

“The key to keeping MVHS a safe school is communication from all parties. If you hear of anything that might be of concern, we need to know immediately,” Gilbert said.

He said the school is continuing to work with the Rumford Police Department to ensure the safety and security of all students and staff.
