Coach: Tom Smith (third year)
Last year’s record: 7-11
Returning letter-winners: Seniors — Parker Asselin (6-1 guard/forward), Luke Washburn (6-3 center), Ryan Stevens (6-0, guard/forward), Carlton Banton (6-0 guard/forward), Derek Gamage (6-5 center), Nick McBride (6-0 guard/forward); Junior — Kyle Fields (6-3 forward/center).
Key loses: Trever Samson (guard/forward), Sam Morin (guard), Kelsey Lamothe (forward), Brady Dion (guard), Alex Mace (guard), Dalton Burns (guard).
Promising newcomers: Senior —Marcus Thomas (6-0 forward); Juniors — Drew Gamage (6-1 forward), Adam Merrill (5-10 guard); Sophomores — Jonah Martin (6-0 guard), Dalton Therrien (5-9 guard).
Outlook: The Raiders are sufficiently motivated after missing a preliminary berth last year by a little over half of a Heal point, and supremely confident with much of their roster coming off of a state football title. Asselin (12.5 ppg) is the leading returning scorer and has the range to give Washburn and Derek Gamage the room to operate inside, where they could do significant damage in what will be a small league. Therrien has the point guard skills to create the fast tempo Smith likes. The combination of experience and senior leadership could get the Raiders over the hump.
