LEWISTON — A local man pleaded guilty Friday in federal court to a charge of transporting child pornography.
Frederick Butler, 44, entered his plea in U.S. District Court in Portland. He faces a sentence of between 15 and 40 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and possible lifetime supervised release.
In April, Butler sent an email message to someone in Oregon. He attached 19 images to that email. Most of the images depicted minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to court records.
In 2001, Butler was convicted in federal court of receiving child pornography.
He will be sentenced after a pre-sentence investigation report is completed by the U.S. Probation Office.
The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
