WILTON — A Lewiston woman died Friday afternoon from injuries sustained in a head-on crash on Route 2 near the First Apostolic Church.
Claudette Hutchins, 61, died while being transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington by a NorthStar ambulance, Wilton police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.
Hutchins was driving a 2010 Hyundai SUV west on Route 2 at the time of the accident, reported at 2:44 p.m., Wilcox said.
A Farmington man, Richard Harvey, 79, was transported to Central Maine Medical Center by a LifeFlight medical helicopter, Wilcox said. At the request of Harvey or his family, no information about his condition was being released later Friday night.
Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles. It took more than an hour for Harvey to be removed from his 2013 Town & Country van, Wilcox said.
Angela Harvey, 80, also of Farmington, was a passenger in the vehicle. She was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital with injuries.
Claire Bergeron, 63, of Lewiston was a passenger in the SUV driven by Hutchins. She was transported to FMH by a NorthStar ambulance. A second female passenger, age 16, was also transported by ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital, Wilcox said.
